Being in charge of capturing your precious moments is no small task, and any photographer worth their salt will never take this job lightly. And neither should you. So when booking your family or event photography – here’s a couple of things to think about –

Will your Photographer make you feel calm and comfortable?

Ok so not everyone is confident in front of the lens, and most people really don’t like to be photographed. So it’s really important to work with someone who understands this & can help you feel good about yourself and your upcoming session – a meeting, phonecall or even a zoom consultation is always a great option to get a feel for your photographer before committing to a booking.

Is your style in sync?

When you book your photographer, you want to make sure you’re on the same wavelength regarding style. Is black and white your thing? Light & airy? Bold & vibrant? Posed or candid? Studio or location? These are all questions you should take into consideration before booking a family photography session. If you can imagine yourself or your family among images in their portfolio – GREAT! If not – you may need to keep looking.

Have you checked reviews?

Check online forums, google reviews, Facebook or If your photographer is local – ask around. This will give you an idea about the whole session experience rather than just the final images from real families who have had similar sessions. It’s all well and good to have beautiful images – but was it a fun or stressful experience??

Investment & Budget – Is it clear what is included in the cost of your session?

This is a fairly obvious and very important point – everyone wants a good deal – and to know exactly what they are spending. There’s nothing worse than nasty surprises at your viewing session! Your photographer should make this easy for you and direct you to this information before your session – this way you know & you go in with your eyes wide open – you can set a budget and think about your flexibility on this.

I Hope this has been helpful for you guys!!

Love Lynsey xx
